Gentle silicone passive pump with multipurpose sterilization bag.
Normally you see breast milk pumps that require batteries or to be plugged in…all exert a certain amount of force and vary in design. This haakaa silicone breast pump is passive so you don’t need to worry about batteries or being near an outlet. The design of the pump is meant to fit discreetly in your bra so you can actually be hands free as the pump will have natural suction once placed on the breast. The silicone of the pump is thicker and more sturdy than the sterilization bag so I would not treat this as hands free if you are not inserting this in your bra. The pump is a decent size to collect milk before you would need to switch out. You can adjust the suction amount with the aid of a valve at the top of the pump. Fairly comfortable and effective if you have decent milk flow.This set only includes one pump and one sterilization bag. I like that instead of typical 1/2 plastic it is made of silicone so you don’t have to worry about higher temps melting into micro plastic. The pump fits nicely in the sterilization bag and it is easy to use and fairly intuitive. The sterilization bag comes with a nice handle and flip over piece that ‘buttons’ so you can ensure it is sealed, beyond the ziploc type seal at the top. There is an air vent on one side of the bag, near the top so you won’t have to worry about water leaking out during sterilization.I actually really love the sterilization bag as it is a soft but sturdy silicone and can be used for so many things other than sterilization. Since it is a decent size, it could double as a travel toiletry bag, storing or transporting foods that regular plastic is not good for, etc. The bag is well worth the price of this set overall at $20 at time of review. Being able to microwave, boil, and use this in the dishwasher is a win.

Great seat for new moms
This is a super convenient set with the silicone sterilizer or storage bag and the shell. The shell is a bit bulky but does work well. Cleaning is fine though not super easy. I’ve used the sterilizer a few times and it works. Typically I just use the silicone bag to store the shell as it keeps it clean and fits nicely in the diaper bag

Just painful
I does it’s job, I liked that there was a little vent on top to help with better suction, but for someone like me who oversupply’s and is sensitive. It just hurts to wear it. I have to wear something if I don’t want to waste milk so I put up with it. I went back to the ladybugs though. I feel like it was because it has a ridge design. Anyway it was a no for me.

Good collector
This milk collector has been so handy to have on hand. It is easy to apply and wear while I am breastfeeding on the other side. It stays put while using it and is comfortable to wear. It fits nicely inside my nursing bras and isn’t bulky or always falling off. I like the sterilizer bag that comes with it too. It is easy to use the bag and makes me feel confident that the collector is properly cleaned after each use.

Great alternative to other Haakaa products
Great item. I’ve used both the OG Haakaa manual pump and the Haakaa ladybugs. I absolutely hated the ladybugs; they were too big and didn’t create enough suction. I liked the original Haakaa pump, but my kid always kicks it off. I have the new version this time with the lid, and the lid doesn’t stay on securely either, which compromises function. All that is to say, I am very pleased with this shell pump instead. I find it creates good suction, and I can stick it securely inside my bra to keep it safe from kicking feet. It is comfortable to wear. I also love that it comes with its own reusable sanitizing bag. The set includes one 75ml silicone shell breast pump & one 75ml grey silicone sterilizer bag. As with all Haakaa products, the products are well made and durable. I would expect to get two shells for the price of this set, but it is still a good value.

Very convenient and easy to use and clean.The shells are so helpful in the first weeks of nursing. Depending on your preferences/needs, you can use the ladybug to just catch letdown that would otherwise be lost to a nursing pad or you can use the shell to apply more suction and encourage more milk flow (closer to the traditional Haakaa). Both of these are great when baby is feeding on the other side or you are very engorged and just need to empty a little bit before baby eats. The shells can sit hands free in your bra.👍👍

These shells have really good suction and so stay on well. Calling it a ‘pump’ is a bit misleading though; I’d say it’s more beneficial for collecting leaking milk rather than pumping. Maybe it’s better for mums whose milk is plentiful; if you’re hoping to use it actively to increase milk supply though, it may not quite be for you. The steriliser bag is great though!

Comfortable to wear! So easy compared to other brands I’ve tried, just squeeze and they suction on without being too tight or painful. Soft silicone but sturdy enough to hold their shape. Collect a decent amount for the size of them. Comes with a steriliser bag as well which is great! Makes cleaning a breeze! Very happy with these

A simple and straightforward milk collector pump! Lovely elegant design is very attractive and it comes with the bag for storing and sterilising which is great. The pump is effective and sunroom can be easily adjusted. It collects milk while feeding without any effort required. The material is thick and durable and it washed up easily. There are no complicated parts you just attach by suction and go. It’s small enough to tuck in to bra and continue around the house. Brilliant value for money.

I have had the original Haakaa when I had my first daughter and it worked great for us in our breastfeeding journey and I used it to build a freezer stash with decent success. With my second daughter, the journey looks completely different and I have to pump to maintain my supply. I have my Momcozy pumps but they are big and clunky and I can never manage wearing them at the same time as feeding or even holding my baby. Enter this product! The shell shape and the soft silicone make it ideal for slipping into my bra and forgetting about it. I only use it as a passive collector and in place of a breast pad. I can get a good amount, around 2oz across both breasts during the day. I’m glad this milk did not go to waste thanks to this little shell! It comes with its own sterilising bag, but it can also fit comfortably in my steam and dry steriliser.The product is not without its drawbacks though. I have small breasts so it fits into my bra and does not affect the shape too much but I can imagine on a better endowed woman, it might look odd. There has been occasions where they have slipped while doing housework and the edges of the hope were quite rough on my sensitive nipples.For the above reasons, I would knock a star from my rating, however, since this item is bundled with a microwave sterilising bag, I have to take this into account too. And this bag is absolutely incredible! It fits not just the pump, but bottles, dummies and dummy clips, teethers and weaning cutlery. It has a vent so you can empty the boiling water and even a loop so you can hook it up to dry. The silicone is very soft and can stretch a bit to fit everything. There are clear, embossed markings to show you how much water to fill it with (100ml). For my first baby I used to use disposable steriliser bags, this is infinitely better and environmentally friendly.Overall, the pump is decent and the bag is a must-have. Together they are a great combo for breastfeeding mums.
