Versatile, useful, and cute
This thermometer is a very useful tool. It has a lot of features that I absolutely love. First being the fact that I don’t have to even take the time to fidget with buttons to turn it on every time I want to use it. I just place it in the water and it turns itself on. I am a busy mother, I will take every second of time saved that I can get. So far, it turns itself on every time without fail. When first getting this I did want to double check and make sure that the temperature reading is correct. So, I tested it against a different meter, and the readings are very accurate. Another helpful feature is that the safe vs. too cold vs too hot temperature settings are already preset. Yes, you do have the option to change it to what you want, but it’s preset to the recommended settings which I think is super helpful because most people honestly don’t know the correct safe temperatures. It floats very nicely, and it actually self corrects in the water, like if your little one messes with it and puts it down upside-down, it places itself right back into the correct face up position. The display is very clear and easy to read. I appreciate how easily I can remove the silicone cover so that I can clean it. I read other reviews and I saw a lot of people talking about how it’s going to attract mold, but so far, I haven’t had an issue with that. When I do my daily bathroom clean up, it takes less than a minute to give it a quick wipe down and I have had no issues with mold. I would say, this is a very helpful tool. It is not just for if you have a child, you could also use it for any kind of water temperature measurement as well as room temperature measurements because it does that too. So I think it is a very handy and versatile tool.

The cutest thermometer
I’d been using the wrist test for the first couple of months and mostly felt fine about it, but the more I read about how sensitive newborn skin is to temperature, the less confident I felt in my own judgment. My baby is around four months now and getting more active in the tub, which means my attention is more divided than it used to be. I wanted something that would give me an objective number rather than relying on a guess.The color indicator is what actually makes this work in practice. I had assumed I’d be watching the number, but what I actually do is glance at the water droplet icon — green means I can move on, red means I need to cool it down before the baby goes in. When you’re holding a squirmy four-month-old with one arm and trying to manage everything else with the other, not having to process a number is more useful than it sounds. The display is large and bright enough to read from a normal standing position without having to fish the thermometer out of the water for a closer look.The auto on/off is another detail that earns its keep. It turns on when it hits the water and shuts itself off not long after you remove it, so there’s no battery drain from forgetting to switch it off after bath time. The silicone shell feels soft and rounded with nothing sharp, which matters when it’s floating around near a baby. It also floats steadily rather than tipping over, so the display stays visible throughout the bath. The one thing worth knowing is that the flower shape has some cutouts in the petals on the underside where moisture can collect, so it’s worth giving it a proper dry after use rather than just leaving it sitting in a damp tub. That’s a minor maintenance note rather than a real flaw, and it doesn’t change how well the thermometer actually works. For anyone moving past the wrist test and wanting something more reliable, this is a straightforward and well-designed option.

Best screen we’ve seen, but other traits still average or worse.
These bath thermometers come down to a few things…Decimal places – so you can see if the temp is going up or down in the bathtub as you fill it so you can adjust the temp for your baby. This doesn’t have any.Self-righting – whether they turn face up on their own on the water, or whether the center of mass is high enough that they can stay tipped over. This mostly does but sometimes doesn’t if it gets flipped all the way over. This is slightly better than average here.Auto-on – how reliably they turn on automatically when in contact with water. Some are way better than others and I’d say this is pretty average. Most of the time it turns on itself but occasionally I have to mash a button to turn it on. This is pretty average.Mold/mildew resistance – it should have minimal nooks and crannies for mold to start growing. This has a LOT more than I’d like. The back side of the petals are all cut out, so they’re going to collect mold that you’ll have to scrape out. The center barrel of the thermometer comes out completely so you can change the battery, but also you’ll have to clean back there. You’re not going to find any that are literal zero on this factor, but the fewer nooks and crannies it has the better. A lot of the rubber duckie style thermometers have much bigger cutouts on the bottom, and the mold on those is horrendous.Screen quality – whether the seal/vacuum and actual numbers are easily readable. I was going to give this a lot lower score, but of all the units we’ve tried, this one has by far the nicest, most readable screen. And the seal/vacuum inside is good too, as we haven’t got any fog on the inside of the screen (some are terrible with this). The numbers are a bit bigger than most others too, so as I’m blasting through the evening routine, it’s a lot easier to see at a glance.
