Works for what I intended – to keep a small puppy contained and allow gate to be left in place
You may have been there yourself – a new (8 week old tiny) puppy arrives and it needs to be trained. That takes time so have to deal with it best you can. Containing the pup in our kitchen area allows us to monitor it and limit the accidents to one area. The open area between the kitchen counter and wall that you pass through to rest of house is 42″ wide. I needed a solution that would allow us to keep the puppy in and us to get through – without having to constantly move and replace some kind of barrier. In my mind a fence apparatus with a walk through gate was the only solution. When I started looking I found some that are flimsy looking, some with gate that included a doggy door (why would you need that?) etc.When I found this one it seemed like it could be just right based on the number of positive reviews, as well as the price – which isn’t the cheapest but I figure I’d be sorry to go cheap as you typically get what you pay for. The thing that was missing in all my searching was the distance between the slats in the fence, because as I said the puppy is very tiny (Pomeranian-Yorkie mix). I asked questions about that and got lots of answers (thank you all very much). Only one or two people told me exactly what the spacing was and that allowed me to go ahead and buy it. After it arrived I was thrilled that the spacing was exactly 2 1/4″ between the slats. That is small enough to keep the puppy in! So I assemble it in about 30 minutes and am very happy with the sturdiness and quality. I doubt the puppy will like it as well though 🙂

I do not give 5-stars unless above and beyond in quality. It is just as expected. Easy to set up. Easy, one handed latch. It stays open at 90 degrees as promised. Quality is as expected, sturdy. Worth the price.

Sturdy, easy-to-install.
Way better quality than expected for the price. Bought two to close our new puppy in one room. Adjusted to fit two different size doorways with ease. Door auto close works great. Very sturdy and secure. Installed both in 10 minutes. They also look very good. Not cheap materials or construction. Very impressed.

Can’t say enough about this gate. I have 2 of them. Using them to keep a chihuahua puppy from roaming the house. They look and function so much better than the plastic gates. Well worth the money. They open and close easily and the swing either way is a real plus.

Outstanding gate! BEST FEATURE: closes from either direction automatically! Adjustable to fit hallway, sturdy, easy to adjust, stable, attractive, paint finish smooth, easy to step over bottom rail. Stays open at 90 degrees either direction if desired. Use for small dogs. Grandparent with arthritis can manage latch, but young children’s hands too small – increases safety. HIGHLY recommend!

Piece of junk
Thanks to amazon for amazing return policy because this is by far the biggest piece of junk i have ever bought! Its hard to put into works how awkward, inefficient and a nightmare this was to 1. Install, 2. Return.The product: It comes in multiple pieces if you want to use as the widest it will go. The little pieces dont clip securely into eaxh other so just loose and you gotta hold it and hope they dont fall which they do. Then when installed it makes the thing curve and all uneven, it blew out of its place at one point and you need tie wraps to reput it together and makes it pretty impossible to do unless you have thor strenght.The return: I had to purchase boxes big enough to put all that metal junk in…I feel like i should be paid for the stress this purchase/return caused me.
